Practical street combat skills.

Ving Tsun Combat Science Auckland provides training for practical street combat skills. Our goal is to develop effective self-protection based on the Wong Shun Leung Method of Ving Tsun (Wing Chun), which can be used in any violent attack scenario we may one day (unfortunately) find ourselves. We aim to build practical fighting skills and confidence in a clear and logical manner, based on three critical principles: Simple, Direct, and Efficient.

Simple.

Concepts must be simple, and their goals clear; movements should be uncomplicated.

Direct.

All movements and counter-actions must be direct to ensure maximum speed and effectiveness.

Efficient.

Energy, force, and motion is to be used efficiently with minimal effort while achieving optimal results.

Overwhelm and neutralise the attacker.

Ving Tsun / Wing Chun Kung Fu is a fighting system developed to deal with a violent threat in a fast, efficient manner. Whether that means completely neutralising the threat, or simply providing a means to escape and survive, depends on many variables. Ving Tsun exploits body mechanics, laws of physics, and a combination of visual and contact reactions to be effective. These reactions are systematically programmed into the neural system to become natural movements, eliminating the need to consciously think what to do when under a violent attack. This training works most effectively when used at a close counter-attacking range in an aggressive manner, to overwhelm the attacker and neutralise them, or give you a chance to escape.

Approach.

Using an honest, practical, and efficient approach towards self-protection, students are progressively introduced to a set of logical fighting principles. You'll be shown how to apply these principles in various attack scenarios, starting at an easy-to-understand pace with little force, then increasing the intensity and pressure as your proficiency improves. Everyone learns in a comfortable environment where they can dictate their own speed of progression.

Avoid
Violence.

Although Ving Tsun Combat Science Auckland promotes the efficiency of survival combat, we do not promote violence. It's an unfortunate fact that violence can happen to good people anywhere. Our goal is to offer tools in preparation to survive a violent confrontation, if ever needed. We should never plan to engage in violent life-threatening confrontations, but it is good to be prepared. When you consider a threat on your own life, or a loved one's safety and well-being, you would wish that you had trained every single day, for that one moment, where you had a chance to change the outcome, and protect yourself, or those you love.
